WHAT is Otoplasty ?
Otoplasty refers to surgery to the ear to change its shape, appearance, dimensions.
HOW is it done?
Otoplasty can be carried out under local anaesthesia, sedation or general anaesthesia.
During surgery, incisions are made behind the ear to gain access to the ear cartilage. The ear cartilage is then incised, scored, folded and pinned behind so that it is less prominent.
Post treatment care
Antibiotics, analgesics, and an antibiotic ointment will be prescribed. Swelling and bruising are normal sequelae of the surgery. Ear bandages are placed post surgery and removed on the third day.
